LASER TECHNOLOGY: A POWERFUL BREAKTHROUGH FOR EXPORTERS

24-04-2024

News

(Chinhphu.vn) "With an average export growth rate of over 17% per year during the period 1992-2022, Vietnam has become one of the countries with high export growth rates in the world."

OVERVIEW OF VIETNAM’S EXPORT TRENDS IN RECENT YEARS

Many Opportunities - Many Risks

The export goods of Vietnam have become increasingly diverse, with export revenue also rising. As of the present time, Vietnamese export goods have reached nearly 200 countries and territories worldwide, including demanding markets such as the United States, Japan, and the EU.

Notably, the group of agricultural, forestry, and aquatic products continues to affirm its pivotal role, shining brightly with a total export turnover of USD 53.01 billion, achieving a record surplus of USD 12.07 billion. This represents a 43.7% increase and accounts for over 43% of the country's total surplus in 2023.

In recent years, many enterprises exporting agricultural and aquatic products have encountered situations where batches of exports to certain markets are at risk of being destroyed or returned. Some main causes are:

  • In terms of import-export procedures: Exporting companies may not fully understand the import regulations of the importing country.
  • In terms of quality: Residual pesticides, antibiotics, regulations, and technical standards...
  • Unforeseen Causes: Buyer's Payment Capability, …
  • An Unexpected Cause: Non-compliance with packaging and labeling regulations of the importing country, especially critical information such as production date and expiration date. Due to transportation, these details may easily become blurred or lost, resulting in the inability to sell the product in the target market.

Product Packaging Trends in FnB

Packaging for products is becoming increasingly diverse in terms of materials and applications. Commonly used components of packaging include paper packaging, plastic packaging, metal packaging, and recyclable packaging. In terms of functional use, examples include carton packaging, food packaging, and cement packaging. Two main trends can be identified: diversification and sustainability.

The adoption of laser technology in the Food and Beverage (FnB) industry is a new breakthrough in packaging for manufacturing and export. It aligns well with the two main trends in the global supply chain: sustainability and diversification. There is a growing demand for exports with higher requirements such as durability of information, quality, anti-counterfeiting measures, environmental friendliness, and food safety.

Many businesses have unfortunately faced the situation where their exported goods are returned due to non-compliance with packaging and labeling regulations of the importing country, especially critical information such as production date and expiration date. If not printed in a durable manner, this information can easily be lost during transportation, leading to the inability to sell the product in the target market.

Laser technology can be utilized to directly mark on the surface of food and beverage packaging, engraving label information, serial numbers, date codes, and more quickly and easily without the need for ink or other additives. This helps reduce the risk of food contamination from chemicals that may be present in printing ink and ensures safety for consumers.
